I’ve been painting seriously for about 6 years. I dabbled here & there a little before that but I started to really paint around the time I became ill and found that I had some time to finally get into it. I’m completely self taught, so I’m not quite sure of how my work would be reviewed by Watercolor experts.
For me, all of the watercolor paintings that I have created so far, have been an avenue of working out whatever personal issues I had going on at the time. I haven't geared any of the work for any particular market, but instead have composed images from feelings deep within me.
It is my hope that these feelings are conveyed in each and every image. There is actually a story being told in each one, though I hesitate to describe them, and instead hope that they strike an individual the same way that a song does, on a more personal note.
This is a Visual Diary of moments in my life when words were difficult to express. So much was running through my mind during each one.
So many intense emotions were mixed with paint and water, happiness and tears.
These are some of the pages of my life’s book.
Each painting is a special part of me and I welcome the opportunity to share them with you.
As time permits, I plan to write up descriptions for each painting, though
I hope that without explanation, you find something that you enjoy.

This first set of paintings seems somewhat depressing and dark, I know.
It was a pretty tough time but it also prompted me to paint
Most of my paintings are like my diary. Each one was my way of working through different situations, not targeted to any particular market, but instead painting from the heart.
Each painting has a story. Maybe one will remind you of a story that is in you. |

I really enjoyed painting these.
It was really a time of getting in touch with myself and in retrospect, some
of what was in my head became quite prophetic. The last of the 5 was "Sense" and
I learned of the tumor in my head, right after i finished it.
I also enjoyed "hiding" things in some of
these. Some people notice right away, while others don't seem to see them, unless
i point them out. I'll leave that little tidbit for you ~ See if you can find
them.

Music
Gives You Wings is a collection of 6 paintings that I did after learning
about the tumor in my head and the surgery that I was about to undergo at Mayo
Clinic, in February 2008. I poured myself into these paintings - I suppose
as a way to distract myself from worrying about my condition, but also, to leave
something of 'the best of me' behind, if I didn't make it through the surgery.
Individual descriptions about the paintings are written on each page.
Clicking
on a Thumbnail will open the page to view the Paintings larger as well as read
the descriptions.
This collection was on display at The
Gallery at House of Stereo in Jacksonville, FL., until I moved in 2010.
Tamara McClaran of The
Florida Times Union also wrote a very thoughtful story about
this exhibit. Professional, high quality prints are available. Send me an email for
any questions or comments. I'd enjoy hearing from you. ♥ |

These are a few of what i have done so far this year. The first 3 are actually from a group of 6, which i haven't completed yet.
Watercolor is an unforgiving medium and when things go wrong, it's very difficult to correct. So, I'm still working out the issues with those.
All of these were "influenced" by special people in my life. Details about them are on (or will be) each individual page.
